Make Your Own Reed Diffuser…
A stylish, low cost alternative to store bought!
Reed diffusers are great, but it’s difficult to find high street brands that sell refills and considering there isn’t much to them - we thought we’d make our own! It was also a great opportunity to put some vintage bottles we’d found in a charity shop to use.
To make your own you’ll need a glass bottle, carrier oil (we used sweet almond) and essential oils. The mix of carrier oil to essential oils should be about three quarters carrier oil to one quarter or a fifth of essential oils… the blend of essential oils is really up to you. Some sites recommend using a little vodka which helps to make the oils diffuse a bit faster but this is not essential.
And that’s all there is to it! This could also be a fun activity to do with older kids during the holidays and can be easily adapted for Christmas by using festive scents like cinnamon and frankincense. And, if you use a bottle that can be easily sealed - they would make a great handmade gift.
